Having only recently turned 8 years old, George Slater has been climbing at Evesham Leisure Centre with his instructor, Luke Griffiths for the last 2 years.
The young climber has come through Midlands qualifiers and is currently preparing for the BMC Youth Climbing Series finals, which take place in Edinburgh on April 24th.
Not only has George benefitted from Luke’s training, his family have too! George’s parents have completed the climbing competency course at Evesham Leisure Centre to enable them to climb with their son themselves.
Anna Slater, George’s mother said “The problem solving and route planning nature of climbing has really improved George’s focus and concentration. Luke at Evesham Leisure Centre has been genuinely interested and has invested a lot of time in George and that has given him the confidence to succeed. They are now working on NICAS together and George is really enjoying his climbing”.
From all at Rivers, good luck George!
