Thank you FODSL for your continued support

Visitors flocked in their thousands to enjoy a dip in Droitwich’s saltwater lido pool over during its successful summer season.

Since Saturday, May 28, more than 25,000 swimmers have cooled-off in Droitwich Lido, with the pool reaching capacity on 20 occasions.

Its busiest day of the year fell on Tuesday, July 19 – the hottest day of the year in Droitwich – when a whopping 1,327 visitors converged at the brine pool and temperatures soared to 32C.

But the summer season drew to a close on 4th September, with the brine feed being switched off for the final time in 2016.

“A special thank you extends to the lido staff. The 22 lifeguards have worked tirelessly throughout the season to keep the lido safe, clean and enjoyable for everybody. The season would not have been possible without them”.

“Wychavon Leisure also wishes to thank the Friends of Droitwich Spa Lido (FODSL) for their continued year round support and fundraising efforts.”

Suzi Woods, chair of FODSL said: “FODSL would like to thank Lido staff, lifeguards and volunteers who have worked so hard to keep the Lido running so smoothly and efficiently over the summer season.”

The heated, brine-fed pool saw more than 1,000 guests visit on four days, while it hosted 11 children’s parties during the summer. The Droitwich Dolphins Swimming Club also took advantage of the outdoor pool throughout the season, swimming weekly in the evenings.

A selfie competition has been running during the 2016 season, with the winner set to be announced in the coming weeks.

FODSL is holding a jazz night on Friday, November 25, to raise funds for the Lido. For more information call 01905 772601 or 01905 774391.
