This popular sport is not just for competitive players, Badminton is also great fun as a recreational activity with friends. Racket hire is available and Rivers Members can book courts 7 days in advance, non-members can book up to 2 days in advance with payment.
Squash provides a superb cardiovascular workout. In 40 minutes of squash, a player can expend between 500 and 700 calories, significantly more than in other sports. The sport also provides a good upper and lower body workout. Playing with a partner of equal ability, squash provides a highly competitive and enjoyable game. ‘Ping Pong’ is rapidly emerging as a major world sport as people everywhere get to grips with the ‘ins and outs’ of spin and power, key attributes of the game. Who would have thought a wooden table 3 metres long by 1½ metres wide could provide so much fun!
